When events took an unexpected turn, as they almost always will in a project of any size, Rittenhouse was highly responsive. We first learned about Rittenhouse while they were working on a large, two-story addition nearby. What impressed us was the steady progress made on the addition – there were people working there every day, and sometimes we even heard hammers on weekends.

We were planning to have our old screened porch enclosed, so we contacted them, even though we were concerned that our little project might be too small. As soon as we met Dean Rittenhouse, we sensed that we were headed in the right direction because we were very comfortable with his personal style. Although our project was small compared the nearby addition, he was enthusiastic.

They were sensitive to our requirements and budget, and also provided superb sketches that helped us to visualize the final product. Incidentally, throughout the project it was always easy to get in touch with Rittenhouse Builders’ project manager by either e-mail or cell phone.

When work began, we knew immediately that we had made the right decision. The lead carpenter, Scott, was a pleasure to welcome into our home, as were all members of the Rittenhouse Builders team. It became immediately clear that Scott really enjoyed his work and shared Dean’s commitment to excellence. When someone working for you enjoys what he’s doing, you know that you will get excellent results.

Throughout the project Dean and his team made first-rate recommendations on design, materials, lighting and more. They started when promised and stayed on schedule. When there were brief delays (eg, waiting for tile, electrical fixtures, etc) they always kept us informed.

What also impressed us was their flexibility. For example, we asked whether they could also replace some siding on the house while they were finishing the new porch. There was no problem. Also, we asked about having a bathroom redone after the porch was finished, and they did it immediately. Dean even recalled that the neighbors who had the large addition built had replaced a nearly new bathroom sink that was in perfect condition. It was exactly what we needed so he arranged for us to buy it at a fraction of the cost of a new one.

We can enthusiastically recommend Rittenhouse Builders without any reservations! We wish them continued success…well, not too much success. We’re already planning our next home improvement and hope that they won’t be too busy to do it.

The electrician, allowed our 4-year-old son help him by having him lay the outlet covers around the room and teaching him what a four gang switch was all about. We shared many lunchtime conversations with everyone from the excavators to the trim and flooring people. All were men who took pride in their work and it showed!
